About MinsunMinsun Hong received her Bachelor’s Degree from Hanyang University (Summa Cum Laude) where she graduated with a dual degree in International Studies and Chinese Economy and Trade. During her senior year, she was the president of the International Studies Student Council and represented the student body in the Central Operating Committee. She was conferred with a Meritorious Award and a Highest Distinction in Academics Award from the University.
Upon graduation, she volunteered to serve in the Republic of Korean Army as an officer and spent three years in the Policy Office, Ministry of National Defense. In this capacity, she worked closely on multiple Korea-US alliance issues with the American counterparts in the United States Forces in Korea (USFK), Department of Defense, State Department and the US Embassy in Korea. In recognition of her performance, she received citations from the Minister of National Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Minsun is enrolled in the dual-degree master’s program in Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and Tsinghua University International Relations Department. She is working in the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy as a Young Ambassador, supporting a senior fellow in his research area. Minsun’s research interests include Northeast Asian studies, Korea-US defense cooperation, and international security.
