Leadership

Álvaro Tejero
Editor-in-Chief
Álvaro Tejero has a deep and enduring passion for knowledge: how to spread it, create it, and use it for good. He has a broad social science background in philosophy, politics, economics, and journalism. This all merges into his research interest around International Relations. His first bachelor’s thesis empirically analyzed the narrative construction of the 2003 Iraq War’s casus belli. His second bachelor’s thesis focused on China’s international security concepts and initiatives, and their impact on global order. For his master’s in Chinese Politics and Foreign Policy, he is researching IR theory, power and polarity, and the effects of China’s vision for order reforms. In TIRR, Álvaro hopes to help students refine their unique perspectives and produce high-quality work to further establish TIRR as the cornerstone of discussions on global issues at Tsinghua.

Grace Chen
Director of Media
Grace spends a lot of time reading stuff, diving into rabbit holes, watching movies and exploring the worldwide web, a breath’s length shy of a full-blown iPad kid. With a bachelors degree in Honours Sociology and Urban Studies from the University of British Columbia, she likes to utilize a sociological and critical lens to interpret and analyze the world and its many structures and institutions. She’s interested in the intersections of technology and globalization, and the policies regarding it. With TIRR, she hopes to continue to broadcast the words of some of the most curious and brightest people who will go on to shape IR and the world.
