About Xie Jun
Ryan Shieh (Xie Jun) is a National Scholarship recipient who graduated Magna Cum Laude from Department of International Politics, Fudan, and is now proceeding with his graduate study at Tsinghua. Ryan served from 2013-2014 as Chief of Student Council at Zhide College. Dedicated to improving student self-governance, he organized a fieldtrip to CUHK and contributed a published report on comparative study. Sponsored by CSC, Ryan did an exchange program at NUS, where he coordinated worldwide surveyors/interviewers to conclude a FDUROP-based research paper on China’s national image. Ryan was also an active participant in youth academic events such as AEBS in Singapore, AFPLA in Tokyo and YICGG/Y20 in Shanghai, and voluntary programs as well, best represented by the post-earthquake reconstruction program in Kathmandu.
Issue-wise, Ryan is interested in regional security and China’s diplomacy, and in Northeast Asia. He did his Graduation Honor Thesis into the Japan-US alliance, on topic of the “Impossible Trinity” in asymmetrical bilateral alliances. Relevant to his research interests, Ryan’s former professional experiences include internships at Control Risks, CCPDS, and Institute of Orient Securities.
