Call for Submissions: Tsinghua International Relations Review
China in the Global South
Introduction:
As China’s role in the Global South has become increasingly significant over the past few years, its economic, political, and socio-cultural engagements have sparked considerable academic interest and debate. Understanding the multifaceted dimensions of China’s interactions with emerging economies is crucial for navigating the complexities of contemporary global affairs.
Scope of the Journal:
We invite submissions that delve into the economic, political, social, and environmental dimensions of China’s engagement in the global south. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- Economic relations: Trade, investment, infrastructure projects, technology, and economic cooperation initiatives.
- Political influence: China’s diplomatic strategies, aid policies, and political alignments in the global south.
- Socio-cultural exchanges: Migration, educational partnerships, cultural diplomacy, and media influence.
- Environmental impacts: Resource extraction, environmental policies, and sustainability implications of Chinese projects.
- Development models: Comparative studies on development approaches, lessons learned, and prospects for collaboration.
Submission Guidelines:
- Manuscripts should be original and uphold the highest academic integrity standards.
- Length should be between 1000-3000 words.
- Contributions can be empirical, theoretical, or policy-oriented.
- References should adhere to the Chicago Style citation.
- Format should be compatible with Microsoft Word and should be editable. (See Here)
- Summary or Abstract of no more than 200 hundred words should be included with the submission.
- Consolidation of materials into a single document is recommended.
Submission Process:
Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts to tsinghua.ir.journal@gmail.com.
Manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer-review process to ensure quality and relevance.

About the Journal:
The Tsinghua International Relations Review is an academic journal associated with Tsinghua University’s Department of International Relations in the School of Social Sciences. It was founded in 2017 by students of the Master’s Program in Chinese Politics, Foreign Policy, and International Relations (CPFP) and works in collaboration with students of the Tsinghua-SAIS Dual Degree Program. TIRR provides a venue for graduate students to publish essays, research articles, and book reviews on topics in international relations, current affairs, and global issues.
The Review aims to encourage and advance academic debate in the fields of international relations, security studies, international political economy, and international development. TIRR publishes works based on nominations from professors. For its special issues, it also accepts unsolicited submissions under the condition they meet the highest standards of academic quality and integrity.
