About James Anthony
Before enrolling as a Master’s Candidate in the Tsinghua-SAIS Dual Degree Program, James attended The George Washington University’s Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion with a concentration in Buddhism, and a minor in Political Science. After graduating, James joined Hughes Hubbard & Reed, LLP in New York City as a litigation paralegal, where he worked for several years as part of both pre-trial and active trial legal teams, including pro-bono civil defense case work. Following on his longstanding interests in philosophy and international politics, James hopes to study the role of political philosophy in shaping China’s modern domestic political system and foreign policy, with the desire to eventually contribute in some way, no matter how modestly, to the improvement of U.S.-China relations. In addition to his enrollment in the TSDM Program, James is also currently participating in the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy’s Global Intern Program, where he looks forward to gaining some of the experience necessary to help him reach his goals.
