Local government officials presented the urban administrative structure of the region and Wujiang Taihu New City’s place in it, as well as the short term and long term development plans, industrial goals and emerging prospects of the New City. Its unique geographic location and advantageous links to regional transportation conduits make it an important connector between the urban agglomerations of Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, and Shanghai. The city has pursued a dual focus of developing a high-end modern service industry and innovative new entrepreneurship opportunities that synergize well with its pursuit of an ecologically sustainable and green city that offers a high standard of living around its industrial clusters.
Afterwards, representatives from the urban management committee, the economic development foundation, and government experts in construction, urban investment and investment promotion (among other departments) offered supplemental explanations of the current distribution of industries throughout the city, growth industries, the functional distinctions between the government departments, and the policy objectives of the administration.
