Claire Harrison – NexGen Global Forum

Claire Harrison is an MA candidate in the Tsinghua-SAIS Dual Degree Program. A native of Summit, New Jersey, Claire split her undergraduate experience between Sciences Po in Menton, France and l’Institut Français du Proche-Orient in Beirut, Lebanon while obtaining her BA in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies. Claire is a researcher and has been published in English, French and Arabic. Notably, she featured a piece in International Policy Digest entitled ‘Reconciling Regional Disparities Across Iraq’; authored research on ‘The Global Feminism of Palestinian Identity’ synthesizing how women, NGOs, and grassroots outreach can culminate in mobilizing Palestinian women; and was asked to write about the condition of women in her country of origin by Nice Matin, in a feature ‘à 19 ans, leur regard d’ailleurs sur la condition feminine,’ for International Women’s Day. Claire spoke at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in August 2016 on the topic of ‘Water: The Common Resource Precipitating Global Divisions’ for a conference on youth engagement in coordination with the UNDPI MUN4UN initiative. This subject has developed into her thesis research on water as a strategic security concern, and as a chief inspiration for most of her puns.

When not sleeping in, you can likely find Claire making coffee, cracking dad jokes, or hunting down vegetarian food somewhere in Beijing.
