About Yang Songpo

Yang Songpo graduated from the University of International Business and Economics with a Bachelor of Management in Business Administration. He was an International Business School Shou-Zheng-Yong-Qi Scholarship recipient and a University’s Outstanding Graduate. While majoring in Business, Songpo found his passion in international politics and East Asian studies during his sophomore year. In his junior year, he studied abroad at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, the United States, for one semester.

In 2014, Songpo was named a Corporate Social Responsibility Observer by China Youth Daily. In 2015, he was an intern at Yale Center Beijing where he assisted with a number of academic and business conferences. After being admitted to the Tsinghua-SAIS Dual Degree Program, Songpo worked at the Tsinghua Center for China-US Relations and Tsinghua Center for Overseas Security as a research assistant. He also attended the Sixth World Peace Forum as a student representative.

Songpo’s research interests include Southeast Asian politics and economics, Sino-ASEAN relations in the context of China’s rise, and the regional development of Southeast Asia. He volunteered in Indonesia and researched on the Targeted Poverty Alleviation project in poor mountainous areas in Sichuan Province with other Tsinghua Ph.D. candidates.
