Chris Byrd – NexGen Global Forum

Chris’s primary research interests include emerging technology policy, US-China relations, cybersecurity, and the boundaries where these topics intersect. He is attending Tsinghua on a research grant to study AI policy in China, and has previously contributed research to Oxford University’s Governance of AI program. He worked on Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, and has held previous professional roles as a legal researcher at Thomson Reuters and as a government affairs specialist at McCandlish Holton Morris.

​Chris is also an independent consultant and talent scout for emerging technology companies and nonprofits, currently focusing on lab-grown meat and plant-based food products. As of September 2018, he is assisting the government relations and technology in international affairs teams at the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy, as part of the Young Ambassadors internship program.
