About Zhejun

Zhejun Qiu graduated from Tsinghua University in 2019 as a Bachelor of Law in International Politics. During his undergraduate study, he studied in Simon Fraser University as an exchange student for one semester and took the summer course on culture policy in Hong Kong University.

Zhejun once went to Huangtian Village in Jing County, Anhui, helping to compile the local village records. He also conducted a three-week field trip in the foreign Muslim community in Yiwu, Zhejiang, surveying the foreign Muslim children’s school-entering dilemma as well as the culture adaptation of long settled foreign businessmen in China. Zhejun has also interned in Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) and Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), investigating several global issues such as polar governance. During his undergraduate years, Zhejun was president of the Literature Society in Tsinghua University. He has also been awarded the University-level Silver Award for Social Practices and University-level Scholarships.

​Zhejun chose ethnic conflict as his undergraduate research direction. He conducted a case study on the inter-rebel alliances and cooperation during Myanmar’s civil war in 1962-1989. He has also participated in the Geopolitical Risk Forecast Program in the Data and Computation Lab in Department of International Relations. Zhejun’s academic interests include ethnic conflicts, international sanction and IR theories.
